Earlier this spring, A Perfect Circle marked their eagerly-awaited return with the reveal of their first new single since 2018's, Eat the Elephant. In the weeks since the release of "Starless," the track has climbed to the top of the Active Rock radio charts and served as a emphatic re-emergence for Billy Howerdel and Maynard James Keenan.
Featuring frequent collaborator Josh Freese, the single set the stage for the band's triumphant European tour - the band's first run of the region in nearly a decade. Speaking on the single, Keenan enthused about the track while confiding that its full potential is achieved onstage. “Of course I’m excited to release the recordings but our songs always take on an expanded personality once we start playing them live.”
“Some songs get kicked around and massaged for years,” Howerdel added. “But once in a while, one takes shape quickly, as if it had been there all along.”
Just last month, A Perfect Circle asserted their mastery with "To Whom It May Concern," a single that offers stylistic contrast to "Starless" while remaining undeniably APC. The track was coupled with the announcement of an extended live run in 2027 across North America with support from Puscifer and The Cult.
With the remainder of the band's live run in 2026 set to begin next month with confirmed dates in Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Hawaii, A Perfect Circle have shared the official music video for "Starless". Working with Jon Vulpine and Justin Jones and Jake Johnston, the clip apirs the band's muscular brand of rock with a fashionably dark aesthetic making for a powerful preview of APC's next chapter.
