As Everything Unfolds Announce New Album, 'Did You Ask to Be Set Free?'

The announcement includes another preview of the album with the pop-infused single, "Gasoline".

Metalcore disruptors As Everything Unfolds have announced the April 10th arrival of their new full length album, Did You Ask to Be Set Free? The Century Media release serves as the follow-up to the band's well-received 2023 effort, Ultraviolet, and accounts for the band's most personal, poignant presentation to date.

Beginning a steady succession of single releases as album previews last year, AUE first unveiled their next outing with the launch of the single, "Set In Flow," - a high-energy, electronic-tinged anthem that further asserted the band's modernized take on metalcore. Followed by a powerhouse showing from vocalist Charlie Rolfe on "Point of View" and a Goliath guest assist from Dani Winter-Bates of Bury Tomorrow on "What You Wanted," As Everything Unfolds effectively put modern heavy music on notice.

Confirming their next full length, Did You Ask to Be Set Free?, sources film, literature and the real life lessons of grief, trauma, and personal growth to craft a collection of 12 songs that mark the band's most personal, profound effort to date. Showcasing the substance at the core of the album, "Gasoline" marks the most recent single and anther shining example of the band's thought-provoking approach to heavy music.

"'GASOLINE' is a story about that unquantifiable and confusing human bond you get with someone else," explains Charlie Rolfe. "That twin flame sensation, that mutual connection with an unknown person, almost like you were destined to be in each other's lives. During this song, it explores an explosive connection, the thought process, the denial in wanting it and the need to turn away from it, even though it feels wrong, you desperately try to keep hold of your life path, ignoring this fated sensation, how heartbreaking and soul-destroying it can be.

This idea tied in so neatly with the concept of Count Dracula and Mina's relationship from Bram Stoker's Dracula, that otherworldly, toxic and destined love. Similar to 'Set In Flow,' we used the story to visually inspire the music video, to which shots from the video are homages to moments in the 1994 film."
