Last month, PA metalcore veterans August Burns Red officially marked their return to the Fearless Records roster with the reveal of their mammoth single, "Behemoth." Asserting the band's definitive brand of sleek sonic aggression, the track also served to build anticipation for what was coming next as fans began chomping at the bit for the pending announcement.
Confirming Season of Surrender, August Burns Red will release their net full length studio album June 5th on Fearless Records. Teaming with longtime collaborators in producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, the album adds to ABR's lengthy resume of achievements and accolades that include everything from Grammy nominations to multiple chart-topping entries.
Affirming the band's position among the greats of the genre, Season of Surrender shapes up to be a metalcore masterclass, as introduced by "Behemoth" and now reaffirmed by the second single in the equally bombastic, "The Nameless". Incendiary fretwork from JB Brubaker and Brent Rambler, battering percussion from drummer Matt Grenier and Jake Luhrs showing his authority out front make for a track never lets off the gas and suggests this is only the beginning.
"'The Nameless' is a hard-hitting, heavy bruiser that doesn't let up for one moment," explained bassist Dustin Davidson. "It combines classic ABR elements with dark moody technical rhythms, and fast paced vocals to keep the intensity up for the full three minutes of the track. To me it showcases our roots of where we've come from, and the future path of where we're heading."
In addition to the singles "Behemoth" and "The Namless," Season of Surrender also feature some important guest appearances from Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada, Jamie Hails of Polaris as well as Aussie metalcore progressives, Make Them Suffer.
Ahead of the release of Season of Surrender, August Burns Red will embark on the Spring Horizons co-headlining tour with The Amity Affliction. Along with support from Boundaries, Heavensgate and Dreamwake, the trek begins April 10th in Worcester, MA and includes a stop in Columbus, OH for Sonic Temple before closing out with a finale in Philadelphia, PA on May 17th.
