Following the success of the first leg of the Red & Blue Tour. Baroness has announced a second stretch of the sold out tour in which the band will perform their first two full length studio releases.
West Coast, we’re bringing the RED & BLUE Tour in your direction this September with our friends and tour mates, Weedeater,” John Baizley shares. “The first leg of the tour through the Northeast was such a blast that we knew we may have to add a second leg. Throughout the tour, we read your messages and saw all of your comments asking for it - so here it is: RED & BLUE – Part II. We can’t wait to see you again. We’ll be playing through the entirety of both records. Get yourselves ready for 90+ minutes of intense rock music.”
The impetus of the tour began as a special holiday performance last December in Philadelphia, showcasing the first two full length albums in 2007's The Red Album and 2009's Blue Record. The shows instantly sold out and suggested the appetite to see the band take on their most enduring releases in full was something the band needed to address.
The first leg of Red & Blue Tour saw intimate performances throughout the East Coast - all of which sold out. For the second leg of the tour, Baroness targets the West Coast along with a special guest set from Weedeater.
Speaking previously of the significance of the tour, John Baizley shared how getting reacquainted with the band's early material is productive for future output. "While I’ve personally never been overly interested in the pure nostalgia of past records, we’ve always found it illuminating to bridge the gap between present and past Baroness by learning and updating/rearranging our earliest material. After the overwhelming and positive response from the Philadelphia shows (and while we’re busy writing our next record) we’re looking forward to taking Red and Blue on the road and sharing the experience with old and new friends alike.”
The Red & Blue Tour Part II begins with two consecutive nights in Denver on September 5th and 6th and closes out with a stop in Albuquerque, NM on September 27th. A list of dates can be found below. Tickets are set to go on sale July 11th at 10am local.
