Watch the headtrip for “Shine” and get the details on the band’s run of record stores, coinciding with the release of their mammoth new album, ‘Stone’.
Baroness have mounted a incredible charge leading into the release of their highly-anticipated full length, Stone. Thus far, the album has been previewed by a serving of ambitious singles like “Last Word” and Beneath the Rose” – a pair of tracks that showcase the innovation and imagination at the core of one of heavy music’s most dynamic collectives.
En route to the September 15th arrival of Stone, Baroness have shared the third offering from the album with the reveal of “Shine”. The cut underscores the band’s depth, showcasing an epic six-minute sonic journey that weaves heft, melody and narrative. Combined with a brilliant self-directed visual that sources aesthetic inspiration from the likes of cinematic greats like Alejandro Jodorowsky, Baroness have truly found their creative stride.
The band’s Gina Gleason spoke about the project as a whole and the decision to go DIY for each of the visuals that have accompanied the album. Speaking matter of fact, Gleason confided that Stone, “feels like our most cinematic endeavor thus far.”
Coupled with the release of “Shine”, Baroness have confirmed a special run of intimate, acoustic record store shows that will coincide with the release of Stone. The seven date stretch begins with a set at Rough Trade in New York and closes out with a stop in Atlanta, GA at Criminal Records on September 21st.
“Independent music stores are a huge part of our musical background,” John Baizley shares. “We discovered so much music in them as teenagers; they undoubtedly had a profound effect on all of our development as young artists (they still do). We are thrilled to be able to travel around the East Coast this September to play stripped down sets in some of our favorite shops.”
Gina Gleason adds: “We’re really excited for the opportunity to play these intimate performances and to connect with the fans as well as the record shop owners and operators who have been so incredibly supportive of us over the years.”
The record store tour precedes the band upcoming mammoth Sweet Oblivion tour which begins in October. The band recently confirmed the diverse slate of supporting band joining the trek.
