Black metal pillars Behemoth have announced a special reissue of their pivotal third full length studio album, Pandemonic Incantations. Originally released in 1998, the album marked a crucial turning point for the Polish unit, combining the pageantry of black metal and the power of death metal in what would be a formative start to a new era of musical extremity.
Teaming with Metal Blade Records the definitive reissue of Pandemonic Incantations is due out September 12th. The expanded, reissued edition includes seven bonus tracks, as well as the Bewitching The Pomerania EP along with rare rough mixes.
Ahead of the September release, the band have shared a new visuallizer for “Satan’s Sword (I Have Become)”.
The reissue also features a twenty-page booklet expanding on the album’s lore with photos and liner notes from the band's archive as well as brand-new interviews discussing the legacy and influence of the album. The reissue of Pandemonic Incantations also features new cover art by Eliran Kantor which references the original artwork.
Behemoth architect Nergal spoke on the refreshed release and reflected on its formative impact on the band. “Pandemonic Incantations marked a significant leap forward in our evolution. It was a milestone made possible by overhauling the lineup and bringing Inferno into the band – it was a game changer. We recorded the best album we could at that point. To this day, I often hear from fans who say it’s their favourite BEHEMOTH record. Even the sonic imperfections don’t overshadow the mature arrangements and solid song writing. I’m still very proud of it.”
Pandemonic Incantations reissue will be released as a 2xCD digibook and digitally as well as 2xLP in the following color variants including Maroon Marbled (US), 180g Black (EU), Transparent Beige Brown Marbled (EU – Ltd. 700), Bone/Brown Splatter Vinyl (EU – Ltd. 300).
