French synthwave specialist Carpenter Brut has pulled back the curtain on the third and final installment in his Leather trilogy with the news of his next sonic saga, Leather Temple. The album is due out February 27th via No Quarter PROD/ Virgin Records and follows his acclaimed 2022 LP, Leather Terror.
The visionary scope of the project combines elements of 80's glam rock decadence, retro slasher film aesthetic and a mammoth electronic pulse that runs the gamut of new wave synth to early arena-sized electro. As with each entry in the Leather series, Leather Teeth shifts from the brutal, bloody, anti-hero plotline of Leather Terror to the desolate, futuristic dystopia of the year 2077.
Setting the stage for the dark soundtrack to come, Leather Temple frames a post-apocalyptic society where societal stratification is absolute - between thriving, bright cities of wealthy elites and everyone else fighting for existence on the outskirts. The album's bombastic ten tracks construct a narrative of authoritarian rule, classism and eventual rebellion with the central protagonist throughout the saga in Bret Halford, making an unexpectedly triumphant return.
Offering a glimpse into the menacing hellscape of Leather Temple, Carpenter Brut has shared the album's title track - a menacing three minute jaunt that is as immersive as it is sonically intense.
The news of the arrival of Leather Temple includes an extensive run of tour dates for Carpenter Brut in the coming months. Trekking Europe throughout March, Carpenter Brut will land in North America for a headlining run with HEALTH that will include a stop at Sick New World this spring.
