Surging heavy metal horde Castle Rat recently confirmed their next chapter with the September 19th arrival of their new album, The Bestiary. The full length frames a powerful presentation of traditional metal sensibility with over-the-top performative prowess, making Castle Rat one of heavy music's most intriguing, emerging voices.
Emphasizing the band's command and well developed concept, The Rat Queen, also known as Riley Pinkerton, fronts a masterful performance on the first preview of the full length with the single, "WIZARD". Recorded by Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Wolves in the Throne Room, Björk) and mixed by Jonathan Nuñez (Torche, Restless Spirit), the track showcases the band's spellbinding brand of metallic sorcery that is as immense as it is immersive.
Speaking to the greater scope of the new record, The Rat Queen herself shared, "The Bestiary' is a conceptual book of beasts containing a collection of mystical creatures from a world forgotten. The last remaining souls of each have been gathered and preserved by 'The Wizard.' Cautionary tales of each beast and The Wizard himself are woven through the power of traditional heavy metal song and spell."
Along with the arrival of The Bestiary, Castle Rat will embark on The Book of Beasts tour in support of the album. The trek begins September 5th in Boston, MA and crosss the US with stops in Canada, looping back to Brooklyn, NY on October 5th.
Additionally, Castle Rat will be featured among a healthy, diverse crop of heavy music's emerging class as part of the line-up for the inaugural UNHINGED Music & Tattoo Festival in Denver, CO. this July.
