Oklahoma City's Chat Pile has maintained a prolific creative pace that has positioned the band as one of the most rightfully celebrated of the post-pandemic era. Announcing the band's third full length album, Who Loves the Sun follows the acclaim the band has tallied with 2022's God's Country and 2024 sophomore release, Cool World

On Who Loves the Sun, Chat Pile frames existential dread and the kind of indifference so prevalent among the an entire generation as the wealth gap widens, the environment becomes further depleted and the wedge between living and existing becomes more apparent. It's that kind of dark, dismal reality that fuels the angst on the band's third full length effort.

"This record focuses on my grievances with the modern world," explained Chat Pile vocalist Ray B. "AI, genocide, climate change, the power elite, money hoarding pigs— all that shit fucks up your life and mine.  The band is definitely stretching out their abilities on the album and I too felt inspired to go further— as a huge fan of Boston, I like to think Brad Delp is somewhere up there, smiling down, as I take the layering to new heights, but who can say? We have fun with it."

Chat Pile's bassist Stin also added, "This album contains a healthy dose of the usual Chat Pile airing of grievances against the state of the world, but deeper at it's heart I feel Who Loves the Sun is grappling with the challenges of trying to keep one's humanity in a time of extreme anti-humanity."

Offering a glimpse of the bleak reality that fueled the project, Chat Pile have released their dark, foreboding first single from the album with "Deep Blue." The steady thud of the track, combined with the dismal commentary make for a poignant statement right out of the gate. Ray B. explained the introduction, "Technology is rapidly ruining our lives, all promise seemingly squandered on the worst things, like killing people, wasting resources, destroying art- shrinking our brains and pulling us further apart than ever before."

Along with the September 4th arrival of Who Loves the Sun, Chat Pile will be relentless on the road in support of the new album. Taking on a stretch of international dates with appearances in Australia, New Zealand and a run of European festival dates, the band will return to the States for a fall headlining tour along with Soul Glo and Viagra & Shallowater.
