OKC collective Chat Pile had one of the most outstanding records in heavy music with the 2022 debut, God's Country. A combination of thematic bite and serrated musical rip, the album earned widespread acclaim and landed on several year-ending best of lists across all genres.

Following a healthy run of touring on their previous cycle, Chat Pile are now turning the page with the news of their sophomore full length, Cool World. The album is set for an October 11th release via The Flenser. The album marks an important first for the band - enlisting Ben Greenberg of Uniform, Cool World is the first effort from Chat Pile that features a final mix from someone outside of the band.

As for the weight of the album, Cool World builds off the dejection and despair of God's Country, only this time widening the scope to shift the focus from the band's immediate environment to their vantage point of the world we all live in.

“'Cool World' covers similar themes to our last album, except now exploded from a micro to macro scale, with thoughts specifically about disasters abroad, at home, and how they affect one another,” explained vocalist Raygun Busch.  “If I had to describe the album in one sentence,” Busch continues, “It’s hard not to borrow from Voltaire, so I won’t resist – 'Cool World' is about the price at which we eat sugar in America.”

En route to the October release of the band's sophomore effort, Chat Pile has now debuted the third preview from the album with stylishliy demented, "Funny Man". The video directed by Matt Rosenbaum can be found below.

Frontman Raygun Busch reluctantly explained that the single was about, "...being a servant, indentured or otherwise. I hate having to explain the content of these songs, because I want it to mean whatever it needs to mean to those listening, but essentially it concerns illusion vs reality in regards to America and war. The title comes from an obscure British movie but otherwise there’s no relation,"

Chat Pile bassist Stin offered a different take on the track, one with a bit more levity. "My favorite thing about 'Funny Man' is that we've finally accomplished creating our version of the ultimate Beavis and Butthead couch music. This is like our 'Thunderkiss '65' or 'Existence is Punishment.'"

In addition to the previously announced tour dates with labelmates Agriculture and Mamaleek in select cities, Chat Pile has added a handful of dates with Gouge Away and Nightosphere to kick off the new year. A complete, current list of Chat Pile Tour dates can be found below.

Cool World arrives October 11th via The Flenser.
