Earlier this summer, Crown the Empire issued an important new glimpse of what the project has referred to as their final form. The single "raw," marked the first delivery of new music since 2023's DOGMA, and ushered in the band's newest iteration - one that merged pop sensibilities and electronic textures with the band's rock music foundation.
Charging ahead with yet another showing of refined songwriting with a genre fluid approach, Crown the Empire's latest offering in "violet" is an infectious showing of rock music versatility. Pop cadence, rock dynamic and electronic nuance, the track hints to a bold new era for the Los Angeles-based duo.
The band elborated on the themes that drive the sonics of the single, “’violet’ illustrates a toxic relationship. When someone completely isolates you, brainwashes you into believing you're a horrible person and that they're the only one who really cares about you, you slowly start to lose who you are. It's an obsessive, possessive kind of love rooted in the mentality of ‘if I can't have you, no one can.’ You're being controlled by someone who demands absolute devotion and threatens destruction at the thought of losing you. It's about recognizing how dangerous that kind of love can become, but somehow still finding yourself drawn to the very thing that's destroying you.”
The single arrives with a new music video directed by B.K. Barone and notches up the excitement surrounding the next wave of Crown the Empire.
