Rock music firebrand Dead Poet Society have confirmed the October 2nd release of their third full length LP, Monarch. Due out via Spinefarm, the project was produced by MuthMath's Paul Meany and mixed by GRAMMY Award-winner Adam Hawkins (Turnstile, Yungblud).
The confirmation lands following a rollout out that began earlier this spring with the unveiling of their first single, "Sinner Systems". Kicking off the summer touring season, Dead Poet Society ratcheted up the excitement with their second preview, "Roach," inching closer to the band's big reveal of their pending full length.
Paired with the news of Monach, the follow-up to the band's acclaimed 2024 LP, FISSION, Dead Poet Society has shared a convincing third single in "Cold," to commence the album countdown. Showcasing the emotive depth and sonic range of the single, the visual offers a cinematic look at the band's brand of compelling rock, with a new clip helmed by the DPS's own Jack Underkofler along with Blackwolf Imaging.
“People today are constantly performing for one another, competing for a place in social hierarchy,” Dead Poet Society drummer Will Goodroad explained. “We slowly reshape ourselves, cutting away parts of who we are to gain acceptance and validation. Over time, we lose touch with our passions, forget why we do what we do, and stop recognizing who we really are – or what we truly believe, if anything at all. ‘Cold’ is about recognizing that reality and choosing to indulge in it anyway.”
Speaking on the gravity of the record, vocalist/guitarist Jack Underkofler detailed the distinctness that went into the album. "We wanted to carve out our own piece of territory. I just wanted to swing for the fences with this one. All the things I felt made us, I wanted to see how much deeper I could go with them and try to boil down the essence of the feeling that makes Dead Poet Society who we are.”
