Devildriver To Release New Album, 'Strike and Kill'

- By Ramon Gonzales -->

The groove metal vets submit a forceful return to form with the lead single, "Dig Your Own Grave."

Celebrated collective Devildriver has announced their return following the 2020 and 2023 release of their two part epic, Dealing with Demons. Fronted by legendary vocalist Dez Fafara along with a elite ensemble of guitar players, Alex Lee and Gabe Mangold of Enterprise Earth, drummer Davier Ortega Perez, and the return of founding bassist Jon Miller, the configuration has achieved full strength for their next full length, Strike and Kill.

The album is set to arrive July 10th via Napalm Records and showcases the signature vitriol that has remained core to Devildriver's sound. Frontman and band architect Dez Farfara explained his focus with this new collection of songs.

"My headspace hasn't changed, I have not become complacent or soft in my view of the world or in my music. Metal is our outlet as listeners and writers, so on this record we focused on 'getting it all out' lyrically, and backing those lyrics with savage, relentless music that fuels the heavy California groove like no other. DEVILDRIVER has never sounded like any other band, we do our own thing in our own way, and I'm the most proud of that."

To properly kick off the Strike and Kill era of Devildriver, the band has released the throttling lead single, "Dig Your Own Grave." Backed by the command of Fafara leading the cadence and precision work of Lee, Mangold, Miller and perez on percussion, the introduction offers a powerful reminder of Devildriver's legacy of dominance.

Fafara offered some additional insight to the single, "'Dig Your Own Grave' is about how one wrong decision, one wrong move can see your whole world turned upside down, effectively 'digging' your own grave… it's that simple.

It can also refer to how your decisions can fuck someone else. This is why there's the line 'Six feet ain't deep enough for you,' because only a deep, deep hole is fitting for what you've done or tried to do to others. Be careful when you choose to make decisions at midnight."

Out in support of Strike and Kill, Devildriver will also set out on a summer North American tour with support from Upon A Burning Body and Ov Sulfur. The tour begins August 14th in San Diego, CA and circles back around to close in Anaheim, CA on September 5th. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
