Deathcore firebrand Distant have followed their early 2026 release of 'Nothign Left to Hate" with a hard-hitting, horrific show of force in the single, "Spirit".
Along with some added muscle from Tyler Beam of deathcore contemporaries The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, "Spirit" revisits the trauma of a real-life violent encounter as it's horrific source material - navigating the full range of human emotion through the lens of extreme music.
Distant explained of the new single, "Inspired by a real life stabbing of a family member at a clinic called 'Spirit,' the track channels grief, shock, and the uncomfortable human surge of rage and revenge that follows trauma. It is raw emotion turned into relentless sound and not supposed to glorify violence, but it is meant to confront it and ultimately deal with its traumatizing aftermath."
The arrival of "Spirit" lands as the band reset from a recent European run with Sylosis, Revocation and Life Cycles. The track also precedes Distant's upcoming U.S. slate supporting In Flames along with Thrown, Upon Stone, and Tracheotomy for select dates.
