Maintaining the band's productive two-year rhythm, Portland's Dying Wish has announced the September 26th arrival of Flesh Stays Together. The album was recorded with revered producer Will Putney [Knocked Loose, Nothing, Full of Hell] and builds on the band's breakout success achieved on 2023's Symptoms of Survival - an effort that catapulted Dying Wish to new heights and garnered widespread acclaim.
Championed for their brand of metallic hardcore and articulate aggression, Dying Wish again assert an effective show of refined heft - one that harnesses real life trauma and weaponizes it in song. Vocalist Emma Boster shared how Flesh Stays Together is equally human and it is harrowing.
“Flesh Stays Together is a discovery, a journey of grief and a statement. Together we face the most unacceptable conditions in our lifetimes. Every tragedy becomes our own yet we have never been more separated. Flesh is a vicious wake up call. Slowly and painfully we approach the end we deserve.”
Commencing the band's new cycle, Dying Wish have paired the news of the pending full length with a preview from the project with the lead single, "I'll Know You're Not Around". Defined by soaring showing from Boster, combined with the powerful surge of from guitarists Sam Reynolds and Pedro Carrillo, Dying Wish have resurfaced better distilled and more dominant than ever.
Speaking of the single, Boster shared the conviction behind the performance. "The song expresses weakness and deep regret when faced with the ongoing pain on the surface of our dependency with one another. The unavoidable conflict, betrayal and abandonment that lie within the cracks of our society. An acceptance of grief."
Guitarist Pedro Carrillo, who also directed the music video for "I'll Know You're Not Around" along with Eric Ritcher, offered his take on the newest track and how it indicates the future for Dying Wish. “It opens up where this band can go and how vulnerable things can be. Whether it is by our own accord or not, life is both vulnerable and artistic. Even in the most confusing of times.”
Finishing out the year with a busy final stretch, Dying Wish will head out as support for Poppy along with MSPAINT on her US tour this fall. The run begins September 12th in Cincinnati, Ohio and includes festival performances at Louder Than Life in Louisville on September 21st and Aftershock in Sacramento on October 4th. From there, Dying Wish head to Europe to support Malevolence along with Speed and PSYCHO-FRAME starting October 27th in Paris, France and closing out on November 9th in London at O2 Academy Brixton.
