Escuela Grind and Capra Tag Team Spring Tour

Escuela Grind and Capra Tag Team Spring Tour

- By Ramon Gonzales

The run adds to the grindcore standouts' existing slate of early 2024 touring.

Escuela Grind seriously does not stop.

Currently on their Ball and Chain tour with supporting sets from a rotation of bands including Take Offense, Come Meirda, Slow Pulse, Bonginator, Frog Mallet, and Brat, the grindcore practitioners have just added a spring set of live dates with Louisiana heavy hitters Capra.

The East Coast stretch of dates are set to begin March 1st in RIchmond, VA, less than two weeks after their Boston, MA finale on February 17th on their current run.

Escuela Grind will be out in support of their latest EP, DDEEAATHHMMEETTAALL - an effort bolstered by a special guest assist from pioneering vocalist Barney Greenway of Napalm Death. The EP serves as a pummeling precursor to the band's pending full length effort, having worked extensively with producer Kurt Ballou of Converge.

Speaking on the release of the EP, Escuela Grind vocalist Katerina Economou shared, DDEEAATHHMMEETTAALL' is the third installment of our EP series where we dive into the genres that most influence this band," explains Economou.

"Finishing this trilogy has been years in the works. We are so excited to release these songs as they are perhaps the best reflection of our live performance. The stage has honed these hectic songs to perfection. Originally we were going to have three songs on this EP, but we wanted to create another track that had a huge buildup. This eventually developed into this brutal song, "Ball and Chain", that marks the point in our live shows where we have a wall of death every night. Lyrically, it references death metal tropes of murder and revenge, but with a decidedly feminine angle."

As for the tour's tandem, Capra will be out in support of their 2023 full length, Errors, released on Blacklight Media and Metal Blade Records. The album was praised for it's metallic hardcore ethos and underscored by tracks like "Human Commodity" cosigned by Candace Puopolo of Walls of Jericho.
