Combining Death rock style points with classic metallic sensibility, Final Gasp continue the rollout of the follow-up to the widely acclaimed 2023 debut, Mourning Moon. The band's sonic mesh of post punk, metal fury and hardcore backbone has propelled Final Gasp among the most discussed and decorated of emerging forces in modern heavy music.
The band's pending Relapse Records full length, New Day Symptoms, asserts refined songwriting, along with the band's well-established metallic pedigree. Along with the collaboration of producer Arthur Rizk, New Day Symptoms successfully bridges the band's collective influences while asserting a formative new voice in the space.
With the introduction of effective singles in "The Apparition" as well as "Burials of Birth," the third a final preview from New Day Symptoms in "No Hand to Lead" is haunting, well-executed collision of styles with elements of post-punk, deathrock and hardcore creating a musical molotov that consumes everything in its path.
As for New Day Symptoms, frontman Jake Murphy explained how the collaborative working environment and the ideal personnel made for unrestricted creativity and a shared vision that was laser-focused. "It was a total hands-on, involved process between all of us," Murphy explaineds. “Because everything was on the table and everyone’s ideas were blending together really well. Naturally we still rely on what we’re used to, but this time we let ourselves explore different tones. And we were all so open and receptive to each others’ ideas that writing and recording this record was more of a collaboration. Having Arthur (Rizk, producer) produce this record opened even more ideas to us."
Coinciding with the February 27th release of New Day Symptoms, Final Gasp will embark on a headlining trek with dates in the US and Canada. The tour begins February 26th in Cambridge, MA and closes out March 27th Little Rock, AR., before the band takes on a special supporting date with Acid Bath and Napalm Death.
