Gaerea Level Up Their Extremity With New Album, 'Coma'

Gaerea Level Up Their Extremity With New Album, 'Coma'

- By Ramon Gonzales

Stream the devastating first single, "Hope Shatters" paired with a breathtaking new video from director Dariusz Szermanowicz.

With each release, the Portuguese powerhouse of Gaerea has asserted a new level of metallic mastery and unrelenting extremity. The announcement of their latest full length, Coma, due out October 25th via Season of Mist positions the band has more than a black metal enigma, but rather, one of extreme music's most commanding, complete forces.

Working with longtime collaborator, Gaerea has entrusted the production of Coma to Miguel Tereso and has revealed a menacing first look at the totality of the project with the hellacious first single, "Hope Shatters". A dizzying meld of technicality and consuming intensity, the blast beat backbone of the track is amplified by tortured vocals and menacing guitars on an introduction that mows over everything in its path.

"Welcome to the urban abyss", Gaerea's veiled vocalist shared. "Where dreams turn to rust". The track is paired with a dazzling new music video directed by  Dariusz Szermanowicz for Grupa 13. The clip frames the band's musical devastation and their meticulous, comprehensive approach to detail.

The release of "Hope Shatters" follows the reveal of the horrifying standalone single, "World Ablaze" - which arrived earlier this year. As the first two previews of Coma, the tracks serve as undeniable evidence that Gaerea has not only unlokced a new artistic level, but is emerging as an obvious affront to extreme music's existing status quo.
