Rock music virtuosos Halestorm have unveiled their first showing of new music on the year. "Darkness Always Wins" serves as the preview of the band's forthcoming full length arriving later this year via Atlantic Records.
Working with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell), the track showcases a powerhouse performance from frontwoman Lzzy Hale - unleashing a vocal showing that positions her among the elite at the center microphone. As for the composition itself, the slow build and big crescendo amount to a wall of sound that towers, despite the dismal reality found between the lines.
“‘Darkness Always Wins’ is not a song of hope, nor is it a song of despair,” explained Lzzy Hale. “It is reality. History repeating. Evil prevails and the good depart first. But we are not doomed as long as we persist and keep our fires burning. The war may not be won in this lifetime. But our mission is to pass the torch so that those who follow have a light to fight with.”
"Darkness Always Wins" arrives as Halestorm gear up to head out on for an extensive live run with both international and domestic dates. In addition to the band's own headlining dates and festival appearances, Halestorm will be supporting Iron Maiden for a series of dates in Europe and the UK. Halestorm will also support Black Sabbath for Ozzy Osbourne's final show in Birmingham this July.
Halestorm will return stateside for a summer run supporting Volbeat, rounding out a lengthy stretch of live shows over the next few months. A current list of dates and cities can be found below. Get tickets - HERE
