Ice Nine Kills Source 'The Matrix' for Sci-Fi Heavy Heater, "The Great Unknown"

Watch the epic music video that points to a new chapter for the band and features a cameo from Joel David Moore reviving his Neo-obsessed character J.P. from the comedy cult classic, Grandma's Boy.

Cinematic metal collective Ice Nine Kills have departed slightly from their horror-leaning programming to take on an Sci-Fi action classic in The Matrix with their latest offering, "The Great Unknown". Embracing sonic glitch, soaring melodies and an adrenaline-charged pace, the track builds on the band's cinematic prowess - roping in another category of feature film quality presentation.

Remaining in character when discussing the track, Spencer Charnas elaborated in a very language specific way about the intent of the latest release.

“‘The Great Unknown’ optimizes aggression and melody in a format our core user base consistently engages with," explained Charnas.

“This audio file represents a genre expansion protocol, targeting action and sci-fi verticals proven effective via cross-platform sentiment analysis. ‘The Great Unknown’ is designed to seamlessly interface with current simulation conditions, as categorical boundaries between fact and fiction, organic and synthetic, continue to experience accelerated erosion.”

Of course, no INK release is complete without an equally dynamic music video. With Charnas taking on the lead as Keanu Reeves, the clip nods to the high-intensity, action packed style of The Wachowskis classic. As for the extended portion of the video following the music, the plot of the next era of INK is better unveiled as we find that Charnas is actually a hologram, not everyone is convinced INK's pivot from their Slasher M.O. is going work and a Keanu cameo wasn't cost effective so Joel David Moore from Grandma's Boy would have to work instead.

The clip is a great piece of INK spectacle and underscores just why the band's stock continues to climb years into their career.

"The Great Unknown" arrives as Ice Nine Kills prepare to embark on the Hell of A Summer Tour. The trek is set to begin August 6th in Green Bay, WI. and close out on September 6th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

The summer trek is bookended by the band's Silver Scream Convention which will feature a performance by Ice Nine Kills at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. Combining the concert experience with the band's annual horror convention serves as a growing tradition and a celebration of the INK universe in full.

The Hell of a Summer Tour will feature sets from special guests including Dayseeker, Kim Dracula and The Funeral Portrait. Pop-punk veterans MEST will also join the caravan for a select few dates. Get tickets - HERE
