The release arrives as the band prepares to trek with Behemoth for a September stretch of dates.
Extreme avant garde specialists Imperial Triumphant have shared the latest in their series of diverse cover selections with a tip of the hat to the one and only, Rush. Following previous installments with takes on Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android” and Dizzy Gillespie’s “A Night In Tunisia”, the most recent homage sees the New York trio paying respect to the far-reaching influence of the band and the lauded 1980 album, Permanent Waves.
Bassist for Imperial Triumphant Steve Blanco discussed how the idea of covering such an iconic band came from being fans of the immense catalog. “Ascension towards a higher place through twelve ancient steps of Jacob’s Ladder. Rush‘s influence is undoubtedly far and wide in so much heavy music, and although we consider our music quite different from theirs, a strong thread holds it all together. As big fans of their giant body of work, we wanted to include a song in our cover series to pay tribute to this great unique band. We also wanted the cover image to reflect the legendary ‘Permanent Waves’ artwork.”
The most recent offering from Imperial Triumphant lands as the band prep for a September run supporting Polish black metal practitioners, Behemoth for a string of headlining plays. Additionally, Imperial Triumphant will join a few select dates on the Sweet Oblivion tour under Baroness, sharing selections from their most recent full length, Spirit of Ecstasy.
