Following a wildly successful European run, Nine Inch Nails are set to begin the North American stretch of the The Peel It Back tour in August. Nine Inch Nails will head a succession of arena dates that will begin August 6th in Oakland, CA and span some 23 cities with stops in Vancouver, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Brooklyn and a finale in Los Angeles on September 18th at the Kia Forum.
The extended stretch of live dates marks the band's first proper tour in more than three years. The last outing in 2022 saw Nine Inch Nails revisit selections from Pretty Hate Machine. The Peel It Back tour also coincides with the arrival of new music via the upcoming TRON:Ares feature length film due out in theaters this October.
Ahead of the film's release, the original motion picture soundtrack, which is composed by Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor, has the distinction of being the first film scored under Nine Ince Nails. The release of the soundtrack lands September 19th.
"As Alive As You Need Me to Be" arrived earlier this month and is featured on the official trailer for TRON: Ares - offers the first glimpse of the sonic universe crafted by Reznor and Ross for the next installment of the TRON saga.
Adding additional excitement to the upcoming North American tour, Nine Inch Nails have confirmed the return of one of their most beloved contributors. Drummer Josh Freese has announced that he will return to the live line-up for the first time since 2008. In a statement shared to his socials, Freese shared his excitement to get back to his post with NIN.
“Leaving Nine Inch Nails at the end of 2008 was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Freese wrote. My wife and I were expecting our third child, and I knew I needed to step away from life on the road to be home with my family. NIN was a band that left me walking off stage every single night thinking, ‘that was incredible. We absolutely crushed it.’ And it wasn’t just a feeling, it was a certainty. That level of intensity, pride, and satisfaction after each show is something I’ve rarely experienced anywhere else.”
Freese finished, “Now, being back on tour with Trent and the crew — helping them do what they do best night after night — is something I’m incredibly excited about. To be part of that energy again feels amazing. If you get a chance to catch one of these shows over the next six weeks, I promise, they’re going to be absolutely unforgettable.”
