Metal icon King Diamond has confirmed the band's new guitarist, Gus G. previously of Firewind and Ozzy Osbourne. The confirmation also stipulates the Gus will be writing, recording and touring as full member of King Diamond. 

The announcement follows the departure of foundational guitarist, Andy LaRocque. Serving more than 40 years with King Diamond, the announcement from the band also spoke to the indelible mark LaRocque left on not only the legacy of the band, but heavy music culture as a whole. 

Speaking to the excitement of the project's newest chapter, King Diamond explained, "It's a Big Honor for me to Welcome Gus G. as our new guitarist. Gus will still continue with all his current projects, FIREWIND, Solo Project etc. No restrictions, just careful planning. We are already working with Gus and I simply can't wait for you to hear all the new King Diamond music with him playing guitar on it!!!"

Emphasizing that the split between King Diamond and Andy LaRocque was amicable, the veteran guitarist issued his own statement July 26th. 

“Hi everyone !
Just a short heads up:
as many of you have seen I’ve left the King Diamond band.

Leaving a ” family” after more than 40 years full of great music, friends and lots of good memories is not an easy decision but we mutually decided to part ways in a respectful and friendly manner wishing each other the absolute best for the future!

Now is the time for me to move on with full focus and write some more music and play live with Lex Legion.
