Gothic metal stalwarts Lacuna Coil continue their charge towards the February 14th, 2025 release of their first studio album since 2019's Black Anima, with the pending release of their 10th studio effort, Sleepless Empire. 

The news follows the band's steady rollout of preview singles, sharing the cuts "Never Dawn" as well as the Ash Costello-assisted "In the Mean Time" and the Randy Blythe-bolstered "Hosting the Shadow". Most recently, the album was introduced and confirmed last fall, when Lacuna Coil shared the fourth single from the project titled, "Oxygen".

The album was produced by the band's own Marco "Maki" Coti Zelati and marked its inception following the Comalies XX sessions of 2022. 

Ahead of the 2025 release, Lacuna Coil has now shared a fifth serving from the full length along with a brand new cinematic visual paired with it. "Gravity' underscores the band's grandiose sound which features a dynamic exchange with Cristina Scabbia  and Andrea Ferro trading vocals that shift from soaring and melodic to searing and menacing. 

Sharing some insight on the latest single, the band offered an explanation of thematic importance of the new track. "Balance is so difficult to keep as we navigate through desperate times, feeling lost and gasping as we ask for help. How do we deal with tough times? Do we ask for a hand? Or do we isolate ourselves from everything else to recollect in our own misanthropic golden cage? I hope you will love 'Gravity' as much as we do and that it will make you reflect on the time we have left and how to use it wisely."

As for the scope of the album, the band offered their take on the importance of Sleepless Empire and how the collection of songs is a response to the growing disconnect synonymous with the digital age. "'Sleepless Empire' captures, through our eyes, the chaos of a generation trapped in a digital world that never stops, where social media consumes identity and every day pushes us one step closer to becoming soulless zombies.

We find ourselves in between, having witnessed a full analogic world and the modern one, confronting the evolution and searching for a true meaning of it all. Throughout every song, the journey is an undercurrent of rebellion, a desperate cry to reclaim oneself in an era that seems to have lost its sense of time and reality."

In addition to the arrival of Sleepless Empire, Lacuna Coil will be embarking on a healthy slate of tour dates. The Italian mainstays will tour Latin America and Mexico in March, celebrating the release of the new record. Lacuna Coil will also be joining Machine Head on their massive tour across North America this spring, along with sets from In Flames and Unearth.
