Riot Games has confirmed big news - Linkin Park will be the performing artist of the 2024 League of Legends World Championship Anthem with the track,“Heavy Is The Crown.”
The announcement happens in same month the reconfigured band roared back with their first showing of new music in seven years. Linkin Park introduced their new vocalist, Emily Armstrong of grunge outfit Dead Sara and confirmed the news of their eighth full length studio album, From Zero, which lands November 15th via Warner Bros. Records.
Along with the confirmation of the new album, Linkin Park initially set a six-date world tour which included performances in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg and now has remaining dates in London, Seoul and Bogota, Columbia. Along with the news of the band's involvement in the League of Legends universe, the band has confirmed three more dates on their From Zero World Tour.
Linkin Park will perform at La Defense Arena in Paris, France on November 3rd and Globe Life Field in Dallas, Texas on November 8th. Finally, LP will take on Allianz Park in Sao Paulo, Brazil on November 15th. Among the support firmed up on the dates, Bad Omens along with Helmet and Jean Dawson will perform on the Dallas date. Sleep Token has been cemented for the Paris show and the Brazilian date has yet to have an opener confirmed.
The arrival of "Heavy Is the Crown" as the 2024 League of Legends World Championship anthem marks the second preview of new music from the band in seven years. Earlier this month, Linkin Park debuted "The Emptiness Machine" which quickly ascended to the top position on the charts while racking up more than 80 million streams in the couple of weeks since it's drop.
Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda spoke about the introduction of "Heavy Is the Crown" and what its meant to the band to work be included in the LoL universe. “It’s been an amazing experience partnering with Riot to bring this anthem to the global League of Legends community. The song is a real highlight of this new era for us, harnessing our signature sound and infusing it with fresh energy. We’re so excited for players and fans to experience this!”
Global head of Riot Games Maria Egan also expressed the collective excitement in pairing the return of Linkin Park with this year's League of Legends World Championship. “The Worlds anthem is the music moment that League players look forward to the most each year, and it has become a highly coveted fixture in music across the world, “ said Egan.

The League of Legends World Championship is set for early November later this year where two teams will compete at London's O2 Arena to vie for the world's best.
