Sheffield standouts continue to charge towards t the June 20th arrival of their next iteration, Where Only the Truth is Spoken.
The band's fourth full length presentation arrives via MLVLTD in partnership with Nuclear Blast Records. Working with accomplished producer Josh Wilbur, the collection of tracks showcases the band's still ascending rank and potential - achieving a new plateau of aggression while showcasing savvy songwriting and explosive energy.
Expressing their confidence in the next phase for Malevolence, the band beamed about what lies ahead armed with new music. "'Where Only the Truth Is Spoken’ is a level up in every sense—musically, lyrically, and visually. This was our first time recording outside the UK, and doing it in LA with Josh Wilbur was fun and refreshing. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in metal, and his approach pushed us to challenge new heights. The production, the songwriting, the videos—everything about this record is bigger, heavier, and more refined."
Having already unloaded a pair of powerful previews with "Trenches" and the explosive, "If It's All the Same To You," Malevolence display real range with metallic variation of a power ballad in "Salt the Wound". Combining soaring guitars, dramatic song dynamics and an emotive vocal performance from Alex Taylor, the track delivers as epic.
Taylor said, “'Salt The Wound' is the product of us making a conscious decision to bridge the two faces of Malevolence. On one hand we have the heavy aggressive side, and on the other we have the slower melodic songs, so we wanted a song that could combine the two.
The video was entirely shot in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. From the industrial depths of Sheffield, a 900-year-old ruined Abbey, to a perfect sunrise over some of the incredible hills of Derbyshire, there is some incredible scenery in the north of the UK which we sometimes take for granted, so this song felt like the perfect opportunity to show case some of that.
From the moment I heard the guitar solo Josh had written for this song, I pictured him on a mountain top doing the solo, so we made it happen, Malev style!”
In line with the level up of the next record, Malevolence has confirmed touring plans in support of the pending release. Set for October and November of this year, the band will take on their biggest headlining run in the EU/UK to date with the 'Where Only the Truth Is Spoken' Tour. The trek kicks off in Toulouse, France on October 27th and concludes with a play at London's O2 Academy Brixton on November 11th.
Stateside, Malevolence has been confirmed as an integral part of the 2025 edition of the Summer Slaughter Tour with Hatebreed. The annual caravan is set to kick of July 8th in St. Petersburg, FL. and close out July 28th in Grand Rapids, MI. With featured stops along the way like Dallas, Pittsburg, Philly and Detroit. The run touts an all-killer, no filler supporting slate with sets on select dates from Bleeding Through along with Fugitive, Gridiron, Incite, Escuela Grind and Snuffed on Sight.
