Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton has announced the April 11th release of his upcoming new solo album, Without the Pain. The project arrives via Snakefarm and will coincide with Record Store Day.

Paired with the confirmation, Morton has released another offering from the album with the unveiling of his emotive collaboration with country music champion, Cody Jinks. "Brother" follows the release of "Hell & Back" featuring Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three and Morton's take on the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic, "The Needle and The Spoon" featuring Neil Fallon of Clutch.

Underscoring Morton's versatility as a songwriter and his Southern Rock and Outlaw country pedigree, Without the Pain follows the songwriter's 2019 solo full length debut, Anesthetic which garnered widespread acclaim.

Detailing how the latest offering in "Brother" organically came together, Morton shared how an overnight tour bus ride led to a writing session in Nashville with Jinks and Travis Denning that ultimately fruited the powerful performance on the track.

"On a long bus ride, somewhere in the middle of a LAMB OF GOD tour, I scribbled some lyrics down in my notebook," Morton explained. "Sometime after, having paired them with a simple chord progression, I presented my idea to Cody Jinks and Travis Denning during a writing session in Nashville. Three hours later, we walked out with 'Brother'."

"'Brother' is a deeply personal song that speaks directly to the theme of family separation and estrangement. I have learned through observation and my own lived experience that it is a universal and all too common phenomenon. We all poured a lot of ourselves into this song and I'm grateful to Cody for singing on it with me. I hope you'll enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it."

As for the arrival of Without the Pain, the album affords a unique showcase for Morton to assert his breadth as a songwriter and musician. A musical departure from his five-time Grammy-nominated work as the guitarist in Lamb of God, Morton's latest solo endeavor underscores his affinity for Southern rock, outlaw country and time-tested blues all through the lens of his unique style of play.
