Songwriter and Militarie Gun architect Ian Shelton is back at it with the news of another full length album from Militarie Gun set for release this fall. God Save the Gun marks the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2023's, Life Under the Gun and the subsequent EP with Life Under the Sun

Even while touring extensively in throughout the previous cycle, Miliatrie Gun managed to be especially productive, debuting the single, "Thought You We're Waving" last year and collaborative effort earlier this year with Dazy and Mannequin Pussy in Tall People Don't Live Long.

As for the next chapter for Militarie Gun, the current configuration with guitarists William Acuña and Kevin Kiley, bassist Waylon Trim and David Stalsworth on drums comprises the ensemble cast for Shelton's next full length effort. On God Save the Sun, the band's post-hardcore slant proves potent with Shelton's articulate stream-of-consciousness, making for a collection of songs that underscore wisdom in Shelton's pen well beyond his years.

Shelton explained of his headspace while writing the new material, "I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album. But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it.

Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking."

Paired with the news of the pending full length, Militarie Gun have shared the next single from the project with the rousing, rock-forward single, "B A D I D E A". Coupled with an energized music video which also was directed by Shelton, the presentation offers an auspicious glimpse at what's to come from God Save the Gun.

Shelton shared the loaded meaning of the single and how ambition of the project went hand-in-hand with the subtext of the track. "I wanted to make a video that was a celebration of vices, a new iteration of yourself looking back at a moment you made a mistake while never truly reflecting. This was the most technically challenging video we’ve ever done and it only fits a song spelling out the words ‘bad idea.’"

Along with the October 17th due date of God Save the Gun, the band will be out on the road sharing new selections from the album in addition their existing favorites. Joining the likes of Gorilla Biscuits, Alkaline Trio and Fleshwater, a current list of confirmed dates can be found below.
