Songwriter and Militarie Gun architect Ian Shelton leads from the front as Militarie Gun preps for the imminent release of their newest full length, God Save the Gun. The studio full length marks the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2023's, Life Under the Gun along with the subsequent EP, Life Under the Sun.
On God Save the Sun, the band's post-hardcore DNA proves potent with Shelton's articulate stream-of-consciousness, making for a collection of songs that underscore wisdom in the songwriter pen that suggests a self-awareness and an authenticity well beyond his years.
Adding to the steam generated from the succession of singles thus far in "Though You Were Waving," Throw Me Away" and the infectious "B A D I D E A," the latest preview in "God Owes Me Money" is Miliatrie Gun in prime form. Shelton's knack for well-constructed songs is showcased with nuanced song dynamics, subtle melodies and a progression that makes for such a great listen.
Shelton spoke honestly about the personal catharsis packaged on this album. "I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album. But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it.
Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking."
Along with the October 17th due date of God Save the Gun, the band host a special album release party in Los Angeles at Oblivion - 6118 Figueroa St. starting at 7pm. Along with an early preview of the album, fans can get their hands on the accompanying picture book and get some insight into the making of the record, first-hand.

As for the band's touring plans, their run is extensive with headlining dates beginning later this month on the B A D I D E A Tour with Death Lens, Milly, Liquid Mike and Public Opinion. The band will then head overseas for a EU/UK headliner supported by White Reaper and Spite House. Militarie Gun was also recently confirmed for an early 2026 run, joining Joyce Manor on the 'I Used to Go to This Bar' tour along with Teen Mortgage and Combat.
