The purveyors of Goblin metal are back with the announcement of their new EP, The Boiling Sea. Ushering in an important new era for the band, the April release will showcase the band's current configuration that now features John Goblikon taking on clean, melodic vocals while Dickie Allen of Infant Annihilator unleashes his venomous spew for the band's harsh vocals.
Framing the refreshed formula of the band, Nekrogoblikon have shared a super-charged single with "The Secret Elephant". Asserting madcap metal prowess and an over-the-top chorus, the track also touts an unexpected guest appearance from Ska punk veterans Reel Big Fish - making for a rare appearance from the band.
John Goblikon, offered the following of the single, "I've been asked to give a statement on our new song 'Secret Elephant' and after strong consideration, I've decided I'm not quite sure know what that means. But what I DO know is secrets don't make friends… unless that secret is, of course, an elephant who you happened to befriend. They also say an elephant never forgets, but goblins definitely do, because I literally can't remember where I put my phone! I had it earlier and then I got distracted by this email asking me for a quote about our new song 'Secret Elephant,' which is such a banger by the way. Ooh, that reminds me I gotta look for my phone!"
For the pivotal new EP, Nekrogoblikon enlisted accomplished producer Jason Suecof (Job for a Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder) to further elaborate on the sound first teased last year with singles, "Show Me Your Goblin" and "Fiend". Guitarist Alex Alereza spoke to the transitional importance of the release. "Writing for this release began in the midst of constant touring and right after bringing on a new vocal duo, so we found ourselves in new territories both in terms of pace and creative process. And that ended up being a good thing! We had a blast making this together and hope everyone enjoys these songs as much as we do. And for the Nekro fans that have been with us for a very long time, we decided to include live recordings of five Nekro classics!"
En route to the April 17th arrival date of The Boiling Sea EP, Nekorgoblikon will be touring consistently taking on supporting dates with Japanese powerhouse Hanabie., in addition to headlining dates with support from Enterprise Earth and Wretched.
