Nike x Wu-Tang Clan Look to Re-Release Rare Dunks

- By Ramon Gonzales

The original shoe was launched in the late 90's and only saw 36 pairs released in total.

The mythos of 1999 continues to surface in new ways.

With many active legends looking back on important silver anniversaries, hip hop trailblazers Wu Tang Clan look to be revisiting an important milestone dating back to 1999 and their especially rare collaboration with Nike.

While the Shaolin shadowboxers had already cemented their position has legends by 99' with essential releases including the 1993 debut Enter the 36 Chambers and the 1997 follow-up Wu-Tang Forever, it wasn't until the end of the century that the collective landed the prestigious honor of scoring a signature sneaker.

Furnishing the crew's definitive black and yellow colorway and their iconic 'W' logo, the Wu Tang dunk only saw 36 pairs released to the public for it's initial launch - making it one of the most coveted shoes among sneakerheads.

A generation later, it looks as though Nike and Wu Tang are planning to relaunch the shoe, making 25 years since the collaboration first sent the sneaker world into a frenzy. Taking to each's respective social media accounts, both Wu Tang Clan and Nike Sports Wear shared a clipe that features the iconic dunk covered in bees -  a nod to the collective's "Killa Bees" reference.

The announcement marks the first time ever the shoe will be released to the greater public. Per reports filed by Complex, the release is expected to drop this fall.
