Melodic metal sensation Orbit Culture have issued a powerful new preview from their pending full length, Death Above Life. The third single from the LP, "Hydra" adds to the acclaim garnered by previous singles in the album's title track and the transcendent "The Tales of War," adding to the excitement of what is already shaping up to be an album of the year candidate.
On "Hyrda," Orbit Culture further secure their position among metal's most progressive and potent songwriters. venturing further into a pivotal new era of the band, "Hydra" depth and dynamic underscore that Swedish unit is in the midst of thier most ambitious musical campaign to date.
The band shared of the single, "With 'Hydra,' we dove even deeper into the heavy tunings we explored on our previous single, 'Death Above Life.' Lyrically, it’s a raw and unfiltered track about cutting ties — direct, honest, and uncompromising. The song was written during a period of intense stress and frustration and channeling that emotion onto paper felt like a necessary release."
Continuing the band's reputation for cinematic visuals to accompany their epic soundtrack, Orbit Culture enlisted Industrialism Films, along with venerated director Vicente Cordero and frequent collaborator Riivata Visuals to complete their vision for "Hydra". The end result is a stunning visual that underscores the breadth and brutality of Orbit Culture's modern era.
"Visually, we drew inspiration from the vast, cinematic atmosphere of the Dune films. That same sense of scale is echoed in the production — distorted, low-tuned cellos, and thunderous drums that feel like something massive is coming. This is easily one of our most ambitious videos to date. We scouted the California desert to find the perfect location — no green screens, no tricks. What you see is real: Just four Swedish guys sweating it out in the scorching desert heat."
