A month away exactly from the arrival of their eagerly-awaited full length, Death Above Life, Swedish melodic metal powerhouse Orbit Culture have issued another impressve show of scope and skill with the single, "Nerve". Asserting the band's masterful command and elite-level songwriting, the track is high-powered, charging anthem that harkens back to the band's roots stylistically.
The band shared of the latest single, "With 'Nerve,' we’re leaning back towards the older ORBIT CULTURE sound, blending in cleaner choruses and a twist at the end. This track has been with us for years — we just didn't know what to do with it, especially since the verses felt a bit uncharacteristic for us. But that's exactly what we ended up loving about it."
They elaborated on the ambitious vision of the track and how that needed something more than the usual music video. "Visually, the song felt too 'larger-than-life' for a standard performance video. After years of bouncing ideas with Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight, we knew this was the perfect track to bring into a fully realized 3-D world."
The album marks the band's hyped follow-up to 2023's triumph Descent, in addition to the companion EP release, The Forgotten - efforts that earned universal praise from fans and critics alike while catapulting the Orbit Culture to new heights among heavy music's most celebrated contemporaries.
The arrival of "Nerve" follows a succession of previews including "The Tales of War" along with the album's hulking title track and the epic "Hydra" - all among the band's most complete show of musical force. Combining precision and heavy music prowess, the single pay homage to the Swedish signature, all while asserting Orbit Culture's progressive, expansive take on melodic heft.
Adding to the campaign of Death Above Life, Orbit Culture have now confirmed a pivotal EU/Uk headlining tour set for October and November of this year. The Death Above Life tour positions Orbit Culture has proper headliners, leading a mighty bill that features Gaerea and Atlas as supporting artists. The trek begins October 21st in Hamburg, Germany and draws to a close on November 30th in Copenhagen, Denmark.
