Following the acclaim of the band's 2023 The Burden Ov Faith, blackened deathcore collective Ov Sulfur have resurfaced with an incendiary new standalone single, "Seed".

While the band did release music following their 2023 full length, including the heavy-handed "Hivemind" featuring Mental Cruelty, "Seed" marks the first offering of new music apart from the Burden Ov Faith sessions and the beginning of the modern era of Ov Sulfur.

Further cementing the creative kinship between guitarist and sound architect Chase Wilson and vocalist Ricky Hoover, the current configuration of the band includes drummer Leviathvn as well as the the addition of bassist and previous collaborator Josh Bearden as well as lead guitarist Christian Becker. Solidifying the line-up, Ov Sulfur boldly charge ahead with their destructive brand of brutality on their first outing in "Seed".

Chase Wilson explained of the track. "This was the first song we started writing for what may or may not be a new album," hints Wilson. "I think we've improved our songwriting in leaps and bounds once again, which we already did from the EP to 'The Burden Ov Faith', and the reaction to this song live on our tour with Nekrogoblikon backs that up."

Wilson added, "'Seed' has one of our best choruses yet, and we use it around melodeath riffs and brutal deathcore breakdowns. Actually, we even put it on top of the song-ending breakdown, where it fits perfectly—after already playing it standard and even blasting through it to give it another flavor. This song has every flavor of Ov Sulfur and then some!"

As for the tortured tone of the track, vocalist Ricky Hoover offered some insight as to what inspired such venom. "'Seed' is about the constant doubt I feel in every facet of life and how I feel we all share that together. Imagine how it would eat away at you if so-called 'eternal life' were real? Sounds like torture to me: more hell than heaven."

The latest single from Ov Sulfur arrives as the band are currently on the road supporting Nekrogoblikon and Revocation for the start of a busy touring schedule for the remainder of the year. Later this summer, the band will perform select dates on the East Coast sharing the stage with Within the Ruins. Later year, Ov Sulfur will join UK death metal horde Ingested for a monthlong stretch across the U.S. and Canada.
