Ov Sulfur Drop Crushing New Track, "Vast Eternal"

Currently dominating the road supporting UK technical death metal unit Ingested, Ov Sulfur has shared another pulverizing preview of their pending January 16th sophomore full length, Endless, with the track, "Vast Eternal". Combining the band's expansive sound and relentless pummel, the single further defines the band's blackened death metal brawn with a cut that is truly brutal.

Adding into the mix elements of symphonic black metal, Ov Sulfur have raised the bar for their pending second blitz via Century Media. Guitarist/vocalist Chase Wilson offered some additional insight, "Imagine if you died and were all alone in an endless void of nothingness: no friends, no family, just endless dark and loneliness. That's the mood we wanted to set while writing this song. You can hear that Leviathvn took the reins (his first Ov Sulfur song as lead writer!) with its chaotic black metal chorus and war march verse. This song goes through a mental breakdown, a person losing their sanity in the endless void."

Vocalist Rocky Hoover also shared his take offering more context to madness of the track, "This song is about dreams I've had repeatedly since the passing of my grandma, to whom we dedicated 'Wither,' in which my consciousness exists in nothingness forever. In that sleeping world, there's no Heaven, no Hell after death...just nothingness."

The arrival of Endless also ushers in the newest and the most potent configuration of Ov Sulfur thus far. Welcoming latest additions in bassist Josh Bearden and guitarist Christian Becker, the unit has reemerged at full force with a presentation that is sure to launch the band among the most buzzworthy in modern extreme music.

In line with the band's previously bleak thematic outlook, vocalist Ricky Hoover explained the headspace of the album and the common themes driving such brutality.

"When coming up with the theme for 'Endless', which is basically endless suffering and the various ways that could rear its ugly head, we questioned what it would be like to have endless life. This kind of allows it to be a bridge to our earlier anti-organized-religion material, as eternal life is a major tenet of many religions.

In THEORY, living forever sounds incredible, but stop and think about what would come along with it: the death of your loved ones, the world around you gets worse (politically and physically), and no doubt eventual insanity from the eternally stacking heart break. 'Evermore' encapsulates these thoughts, building as the character reaches the point of insanity. Fortunately, it mirrors the build of the song, too. We knew it had to be our album launch single."

Leading up to the release of Endless, Ov Sulfur is closing out their run with UK death metal unit Ingested for a year-ending North American trek.
