Now five years removed from their 2018 release, Circles, California nu-metal vets P.O.D. have resurfaced in a big way, armed with one of their heaviest tracks in to date. Marking the beginning of their ext iteration, “Drop” enlists one of the best metal frontmen in the game in Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, for heavy-wielding haymaker of a single.

P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel explained the soul of the single and expressed his excitement in teaming with such a respected voice in metal for the release.  “Dude, it’s the sickest thing ever,” enthused Curiel. He went onto reveal how the song taps into grand-scale energy of electronic music. “When that drop hits, everyone knows it,” Curiel said. “We needed to create a song in that way…P.O.D. style.”

P.O.D. vocalist Sonny Sandoval expressed how the track is indicative of the band’s signature, “‘DROP’ is another one of a kind, unparalleled banger that sets this band apart from everyone else,” says Sandoval. “When you hear it, you know it’s P.O.D.!”

Following the success of Circles, the band’s last full length effort that has since tallied more than 50 million streams to date, P.O.D. is far from resting on their laurels. Now three decades into their tenure, the OGs continue to operate like a band that has plenty left to prove.

“We’re still here and we’re still creating some of the best music we’ve ever made,” says guitarist Marcos Curiel. “When it comes to heart, grit and soul, P.O.D. is your band.”

Sandoval echoed the sentiment and explained how P.O.D. continues to grind, “We’re always still proving who we are — always having that punk-rock mentality.”

“Drop” is currently available via Mascot Records.
