Texas crossover champions Power Trip have begun a pivotal new chapter in the story of their resilient return. After nearly a decade, the band have delivered the first new offering of music since the 2020 passing of frontman Riley Gale. Unloading a hulking double single in “Precinct 3” / “Scavenger”
Teaming with producer Jacob Hansen, the explosive new tandem release retains all of the mayhem and fury that defined the band's potency, while beginning a bold new era that propels Power Trip into the modern era. Paired with a furious new music video helmed by Eric Richter, the re-ignition is all gas, no brakes.
Speaking on "Precinct 3" founding guitarist Blake Ibanez shared, “When we were writing this, we wondered what Riley would have wanted to write about. So once we decided on that approach, it honestly came really easily– the lyrics were flowing and it just felt like the right way to kick off this new chapter and honor him. I think he would have been stoked to see it come to fruition.”
On "Scavenger," Power Trip harness a more restrained approach to their heft with a mid-tempo heater that bears down with locomotive strength. Frontman Seth Gilmore dove into the confrontational thematic direction of the second portion of the double single.
“There are people out there that ride along and develop some sort of self-importance from association,” explained Gilmore of "Scavenger". “And from there, they wield that in the wrong directions. Or maybe even against the same people they leeched it from.”
“Precinct 3” and “Scavenger” were co-produced by Blake Ibanez and serve as the band's initial outing via Blue Grape Music. In addition to the digital release of the double single, the tracks will be released as a limited 7” currently available for pre-order - HERE
