The reinvigorated iteration of Sex Pistols with Frank Carter at the helm have announced their first North American tour in more than two decades.
The last time Sex Pistols played the States, Johnny Rotten, known now as John Lydon was still on the microphone for the band. The current configuration consisting of Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock will begin their North American campaign on September 16th in Dallas, TX. The trek will conclude a month to the day later exactly when Sex Pistols headline the storied Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
Each night of the tour will feature a performance in full of the 1977 classic, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols.
In an interview with ABC discussing the historic run, Frank Cater shared how the tour is especially meaningful given the current social climate.
“I think everybody needs this band right now. I think the world needs this band right now. And I think definitely America is screaming out for a band like the Sex Pistols.”
Carter punctuated his thought with a quip that added some levity while referencing Sex Pistols first US tour back in 1978. “Punk is an energetic music. It’s one where you can go and vent and let your hair down, hopefully in a safe manner. Fingers crossed, no bottles or pigs’ hooves.”
Leading up to the band's North American trek, Sex Pistols with Frank Carter will take on a lengthy list of international plays and festival appearances. Taking the stage at PUNKSPRING in Japan, Download in the UK, Hellfest in France, Tons of Rock in Norway and Jera On Air in the Netherlands just to include a few, Sex Pistols have an incredibly busy year ahead.
