En route to the September 26th arrival of New Gods, New Masters from technical death metal heroes Revocation, the band has shared another hulking slab of heft from the project with “Sarcophagi Of The Soul”. The latest track follows the acclaim of the initial release of “Cronenberged,” a track hailed for its intensity and it's technicality.
Further exploring the subtext of technology as a deity that permeates throughout the record, the latest single speaks to the harrowing theme, coupled with a brutal soundtrack that emphasizes urgency and relevance of the album.
Revocation architect Dave Davidson spoke about the single. ‘Sarcophagi Of The Soul’ is about our addiction to technology, primarily our phones. We use these devices to create idealized avatars to present to the world, when in reality nothing is ever as perfect as it seems. As we continue to feed our vanity the lines start to blur between our identities and the false narratives we create as these digital twins slowly begin to usurp our lives."
Davidson went onto to detail how the latest music video showcases accompanying art specific to New Gods, New Masters. "The music video for this track features the incredible artwork of Tony Guarladi-Brown who created an entire graphic novel as an accompaniment to the new album. The artwork for this comic book is truly amazing so we wanted to give our fans a sneak peak before it gets released alongside the record.”
New Gods, New Masters follows the strides achieved with their 2022 LP Netherheaven and further establishes the current line-up with rhythm guitarist Harry Lannon and bassist Alex Weber. The album was produced by Dave Davidson, completed with a final mix from Jens Bogren (The Haunted, Spiritbox). The full length also features bewitching artwork from Paolo Girardi (Bell Witch, Mother Of Graves, Black Breath, Cryptopsy) and touts guest appearances by Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation, Luc Lemay of Gorguts, and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman.
