Extreme metal stalwarts Samael have issued another powerful statement of their enduring muscle with the reveal of their newest track, "Hidden Empire." The entry follows last year's profound return with "Black Matter Manifesto," the band's first submission of new music since 2017's full length, Hegemony.
On "Hidden Empire," the Swiss titans further assert their timeless brand of musical extremity with a showcase of technicality and audio intensity. The combination of mammoth riffs, layered composition and dark, dystopian thematic narrative, the second single along with "Black Matter Manifesto" ushers in the modern era of one of heavy music's most proven, celebrated collectives.
The band shared, "Hidden in plain sight, right in front of us, everywhere and at all times. We no longer see what we are used to seeing, it is our reality, a reality to which we willingly submit in order to lead a painless but meaningless existence.
Musically, the beginning of the song is somewhat reminiscent of SAMAEL's classic track 'My Saviour,' but it quickly evolves into something more unusual for the band. It is a heavy song with an industrial touch that maintains high tension from start to finish."
The Swiss extreme metal heroes will release a limited 12" maxi single vinyl, Hidden Empire, April 24th via Napalm Records. The release marks the band's first new material in nearly a decade.
