Currently on their climatic farewell tour, Celebrating Life Through Death, pioneering metal unit and Brazilian legends Sepultura have announced one final release to punctuate their more than four decade tenure. The Cloud of Unknowing EP will land April 24th and serve as the band's last studio release in their historic career.
Across four colossal tracks, Sepultura assert their rank among heavy music's most revered, definitive practitioners, while framing the kind of farewell that pairs poignancy and power in a way few bands can.
Introducing the EP, Sepultura have shared the first single, "The Place," which explores the gravity of acculturation in way that loans itself to the signature heft of Sepultura's sound. Frontman Derrick Green explained of the track,
“This song deals with immigrants who have come to a place seeking refuge and start a new life.
Once assimilated into a false sense of security and relentless propaganda they began to act out against what they hate about themselves. The transition begins to escape from the self hatred and the lashing out against people who believed in the same ideas. I feel the lyrics truly follow the transitions of the song. Starting with disappointment and arriving at anger.”
En route to the final EP release from Sepultura, the band begins the final stretch of farewell shows next month with a trek to Australia before beginning the last ever North American dates of the Celebrating Life Through Death tour with Exodus, Biohazard and Tribal Gaze. Completing their run, Sepultura will then trek through Europe with a series of festival appearances and their last ever headlining dates with support from .
