Signs of the Swarm Drop Punishing New Track "Malady"

- By Corinne Westbrook

The highly personal track showcases the band's technicality featured on the latest album, 'Amongst The Low & Empty'.

Pittsburg based deathcore diehards Signs of the Swarm are barreling towards the release of their 5th full length album, Amongst The Low & Empty, due out July 28th via Century Media Records. Today the band has released a savage, lumbering beast of a track with new single "Malady." Rhythmic and destructive, "Malady" showcases the band pulling out the technical stops, while offering up punchy beats like a brick to the head.

Vocalist David Simonich comments: "This song reflects previous battles I've faced with my depression. A moment in my life reminded me of what I'd been through, and it became the fuel for 'Malady.' The song pushed me to be vulnerable in the studio, expressing my thoughts and emotions to my producer to paint the picture I was going for."

Drummer Bobby Crow adds: "I wanted to craft a dark and primal song to match Dave's subject matter, so the music and lyrics elevate one another. Seeing as 'Malady' is another word for disease, I wanted the song to be catchy enough to infect yet deteriorates as sickness does to your body over time. The song builds to a painful climax, growing in intensity as it devolves into a noisy cacophony. You can't even wrap your head around it, then it's over."

The album promises to be one of the bands most punishing to date. "We've always been a deathcore band," states Bobby Crow, the quartet's longest-standing member, who serves as drummer and main songwriter. "But this record is a lot MORE - it's got death metal, metalcore, djent, some industrial stuff…We wanted to make something that was just heavy."

Following the album's release the band will embark on a relentless tour schedule throughout late summer. Beginning on July 28th with a series of release shows, the band will then trek across the pond to the EU for a series of dates with Humanity's Last Breath, Archspire, Shadow of Intent, Frontierer and To The Grave. Then, to wrap up summer, Signs of the Swarm will head over to the UK, wrapping up their mammoth run on September 2nd.
