Steel city deathcore stalwarts Signs of the Swarm recently announced their forthcoming sixth full length studio effort, To Rid Myself of Truth. Due out August 22nd via Century Media Records, the album welcomes guitarist and backing vocals in Carl Schulz and reunites the band with accomplished producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, King 810) who worked with the band on their breakout 2023 release, Amongst the Low & Empty.
Preparing to begin a succession of European shows that includes festival plays at the likes of Graspop, Hellfest and Resurrection Fest to include a few, as well as dates with Lorna Shore, Fit For An Autopsy and their own headlining stops, Signs of the Swarm are charging ahead on a campaign that continues to gain momentum.
Adding to that steam, the band have shared a preview of their pending sixth record with the debut of their collaboration with Will Ramos of Lorna Shore on the menacing new track, "Clouded Retinas". Showcasing colossal deathcore brutality combined with serious technicality and precision, the track is pure muscle with the kind of breakdown that will become a highlight when executed live. Completed by the terrorizing tandem of David Simonich and Will Ramos on vocals, "Clouded Retinas" is Signs of the Swarm at their very best.
"'Clouded Retinas' is about my struggle coming to terms with my vision loss and diagnosis of Stargardt disease," confides SOTS vocalist David Simonich. "I asked my friend Will Ramos to hop on the song not just to make it sound sick but also to spread awareness of degenerative diseases and disability. With Will holding it down for today's deathcore, I tried to showcase my influences from Nate Johnson and Vincent Bennett because the song feels modern yet nostalgic at the same time."
Signs of the Swarm begin their European tour this week with a series of festival appearances, supporting dates and headlining shows. Additionally, the band will head out on a North American headlining tour this fall in support of To RId Myself of Truth with support from Mental Cruelty, ten56., Carcosa, Face Yourself.
