Sleep Debut New Line-Up, North American Tour Dates and First New Song In Eight Years

Stoner/Doom heroes Sleep have announced their return with a reconfigured line-up touting some serious veteran contributors. Joining frontman Al Cisneros, Sleep is now rounded out by Void guitarist Bubba Dupree and Melvins' drummer Dale Grover behind the kit. 

The announcement also signals the split from foundational guitarist Matt Pike with the band acknowledging the end of the previous iteration. “The music and art are alive and after the decades of obstacles that Sleep has overcome, it is time to move forward and make songs and albums. Al wishes Matt the best on his earth bound maneuvers.”

Issuing their first offering of new music in eight years, Sleep have shared the single, “Have Spacesuit Will Travel,” ushering in the modern era of the band. Speaking to the chemistry of the current iteration of Sleep, Cisneros weighed in, “The vibe of the first jam was obvious. It was blue sunglasses-era Iommi in the quality, and equally awesome is Bubba is also one of the coolest people I’ve been able to make music with.” 

 

Along with the arrival of the new single via Third Man Records is the news of the band's reveal of an Al Cisneros-penned. comic book which will see the release of the flexi-disc for the new single. The comic books framing the central figure of the Marijuanaut was illustrated by Dave Kloc and Arik Roper and is now available for pre-order - HERE

As for the band's touring plans, Sleep is wasting little time getting back in the saddle. The band has revealed a massive North American tour to close out 2026. Trekking all of September, including an appearance at Levitation in Austin, TX. the band will again ride out in November for a productive final stretch of the year.
