Mike Ness epitomizes classic with a pair of capacity nights at the iconic Hollywood Palladium.

Equipped with the first new studio record in some fifteen years, Mike Ness and Social Distortion's Born To Kill tour has proved an important event in each city along the way. Compiling the kind of comprehensive set that few bands could, the gold standard of rock & roll punk is on full display as the Orange County legends prove the classics never go out of style.

What's equally impressive is just how seamless the new entries have worked their way into the cohesiveness of the full set. From the straight away attack of title track to swagger of "Partners In Crime" to the jangle of "Tonight," the newer Ness aligns with the classic Social Distortion signature. In the way AC/DC is rock and Sabbath is metal, Social Distortion is punk.

Ensuring the diehards got their fill, Ness lead the charge on classics from the White Light White Heat White Trash era for the second act of the set. Anthems like "Don't Drag Me Down" and "Through These Eyes" caused a roar throughout the room as Ness and Jonny "Two Bags" Wickersham proved two of the most stylish guitar slingers to evcer do it.

Among punk's most indispensable, most iconic tracks, no Social Distortion set would be complete without the singalongs like "Ball and Chain," "Story of My Life" and the definitiive "Mommy's Little Monster," each of which brought on a chorus that traveled from the stage to the floor and up through the balcony.

Adding in the radio staples like "Reach for the Sky" and the band's timeless take on the classic "Ring of Fire," Social Distortion delivered a knockout a rousing version of "Don't Drag Me Down" that reaffirmed their will never be another band like Social D.
