She further proved such during her ride on the Red Carpet while attending the 67th Grammy Awards over the weekend in Los Angeles. In attendance as a nominee along with Spiritbox for Best Metal Performance for their song “Cellar Door“, LaPlante was doing her diligence and fielding questions from the media while strolling the red carpet for arrivals.
Taking a rather uncomfortable scenario and making it both comical, while showing some serious grace, LaPlante was mistaken for genre-bending songstress Poppy. Ironically, Poppy was also nominated in the same category for her collaboration along with Knocked Loose on the 2024 anthem, "Suffocate".
As for LaPlante, rather than grilling the seemingly unprepared media for the mishap, the Spiritbox vocalist just continued the interview as Poppy. Offering insightful, articulate responses to the line of questioning, LaPlante was able to not only show her support for Poppy and her fellow nominees, but managed to acknowledge her own accomplishments as a nominee - all while never breaking character.
The move was pure grace under fire and prime example of just why Spiritbox continues to be in the conversation as one of heavy music's most promising emerging voices.
