SpiritWorld Roars Back With "Western Stars & The Apocalypse"

- By Ramon Gonzales

The reveal of the sub 2-minute blitz marks the first showing of new music since 2022's Deathwestern.

Marking the mighty return of Stu Folsom and his menacing ode to Old West, Occult-latent lore, SpiritWorld has delivered their first offering of new music since 2022. "Western Stars & The Apocalypse" serves as the first new single single the band's lauded LP, Deathwestern and commences Folsom's latest iteration of the uniquely heavy project.

Working with Sam Pura and mastered by Alberto de Icaza (King Crimson, Clutch), the sub 2-minute jaunt is a masterclass of layered riffage, showcasing desolate Western death with a metallic backbone that is as durable as it is dominant.

Teaming with Rob Zombie collaborator Balázs Gróf for an incredible animated visual to pair with the track, the clip brings to life in stunning color the hellacious universe of SpiritWorld which takes inspirational cues from the supernatural horror of H.P. Lovecraft and the outlaw romanticism of Louis L'Amour.

Folsom spoke about the arrival of the latest track and how new SpiritWorld offers a tip of the hat to a broad range of influences that don'rt necessarily mesh on paper, but make sense to Folsom.

"I wrote 'Western Stars & The Apocalypse' right after Deathwestern came out, when we got home from touring Europe with Agnostic Front," explained the SpiritWorld Frontman.

"The New York hardcore influence is evident in the blistering song, but Folsom also gives credit to a more unlikely muse: "I was revisiting a lot of Bob Dylan in my bunk on that tour and there is a nod to his song 'Desolation Row' in the lyrics."
