Further pushing their distinct brand of 'Bangkok Evilcore', Thai hardcore lifers Whispers have shared another slab from their December EP release via Flatspot Records, Yom-Ma-Lok. Following previous singles "Retribution" and 'Close Your Eyes", Whispers continue to stampede towards their Flatspot debut with another clobbering track that strikes with serious intentions - this time enlisting the help of Shaun Alexander of Demonstration of Power for added muscle.
"Wisneheimer (You Were Never One of Us)" underscores the band's meld of corrosive guitars and a pummeling cadence, emphasized further by the violent spew of vocalist Nitisart “Mike” Chaiburi. Combined with Alexander's volatile vocals, the third showing from the EP is added testament to the intensity that has made Whispers such a buzzworthy presence in hardcore.
While Whispers have been a force since 2o14, it was the band's 2021 EP release Narok Bon Din that increased the band's reach internationally. Following the success of the EP, the band would bear down and further hone their aggression on record, working with Suchai at Sixthirty Recording Studio in Bangkok before sending the product off to Andy Nelson at BrickTop Recording for the mix and Brad Boatright at Audiosiege for the final master.
The end result is seven bombastic tracks of hardcore revelry - underscoring the vibrant scene of Thai hardcore. Combined with special guest assists from Alexander as well as Jem Siow of Speed, Yom-Ma-Lok is set to be an important statement for Whispers and a testament to the international scope of hardcore.
