Among the most ambitious, musically diverse summer tours of the season, the Summer of Loud pulled up the brakes for a amphitheater-sized party in Southern California over the holiday weekend. Challenging the conventional idea of a co-headlining trek, the Summer Of Loud lived up to its name corraling four marquee names all sharing the same stage for a spectacular that fell somewhere between concert and hyper-focused fest.
Anchoring the Summer Of Loud, the four-pack of some heavy music's most celebrated names in Beartooth, I Prevail, Killswitch Engage and Parkway Drive all shared top billing and delivered the kind of highlight sets that made the traditional run of show irrelevant. For Beartooth, the run adds to band's robust touring slate in support of their 2023 triumph, The Surface. American metal pillars Killswitch Engage charged through a collection of essentials and shared new entries from their 2025 full length return, This Consequence.
For I Prevail, the performance underscored the arrival of Eric Vanlerberghe as the band's new lead. Following the recent reconfiguration of the band in the wake of Brian Burkheiser split, new era IP like "Violent Nature" and "Into Hell" hit just as hard as the band's more established anthems. As for Parkway Drive, coming off a legendary showing at Sydney's prestigious Opera House and recently delivering their first offering of new music since 2022 Darker Still, the Aussie powerhouse packed the kind of wallop that suggested the unit is refreshed and relevant as ever.
As if the collective four comprising the top line wasn't enough, the Summer of Loud falso touted a healthy, heavy supporting roster. Even without The Devil Wears Prada who was forced to pull out of the Southern California stop, The Amity Affliction, Alpha Wolf and Kingdom of Giants took full advantage of their time in the spotlight - submitting stellar sets that emphasize the continued health of heavy music.
Adding to the significance of The Summer of Loud, the tour will be donating $1 from each ticket sold to Living The Dream Foundation, a non-profit organization working to help children and young adults living with life-threatening illnesses.
