Rock music progressives Thrice have announced the musical continuation to their acclaimed 2021 full length, Horizons/East with the confirmation of Horizons/West. The album is due out October 3rd via Epitaph Records.
The album was produced by Thrice and includes additional production personnel in Scott Evans and mastering by Matthew J. Barnhart - both also worked on The Artist in The Ambulance Revisited back in 2023.
A competent, complete meld of post rock intricacy combined with the band's post-hardcore pedigree and power, Horizons/West reiterates the depth and scope of Thrice decades into their stories career. Bridging dynamic songwriting, poignant lyrical themes and a commanding performance, Thrice add to their legacy as craftsmen and leading voices in their space.
Speaking on the album frontman Dustin Kensrue explained, “A lot of this record is about parsing reality. We’re constantly being influenced by algorithms, by fear, by our own social echo chambers. Horizons/West tries to pull the curtain back on some of that. We’ve always just followed our curiosity, wherever it leads. We want to keep growing, exploring, and making something that feels honest to who we are right now.”
Emphasizing the depth and layered composition of Horizons/West, Thrice have shared the emphatic first single introducing the album in "Gnash". The forceful first offering from the new album showcases the band's post-rock slant with weighty guitars and a real sense of urgency in Kansrue's vocals that assert Thrice still wield of a heavy sword.
Paired with the launch of Horizons/West, Thrice is set for a fall headlining tour beginning October 17th in San Diego, CA and circling back to Southern California for a pair of hometown performances on November 23rd and 25th at House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. Along the way, Thrice will touch down in Austin, Orlando, Boston, New York, Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, Chicago, two nights in Denver, Vancouver, San Fransisco and more with Modern Color and Downward in tow.
